To perform structural repair and body repair (including sandblasting and painting) to vehicles and miscellaneous apparatus. This involves cosmetic repairs, fill holes and dents, sand to smooth finish; prime, tape and paints; replace a variety of body components, molding, trim, panels, windows, seats and other interior and exterior components. Perform a variety of assignments related to revenue and non-revenue vehicles and equipment body/frame work.

Essential Functions

• Repair and rebuild vehicles damaged in an accident, collision, fire etc. • Perform major overhauls, modifications or retrofits. • Straighten, realign and/or replace framing, body sections and chassis components. • Attach various body panels, frame members, floor supports, bulkheads and engine compartment panels. • Perform a variety of body repairs to vehicles/equipment; finish to a smooth surface; prepare for painting. • Mix and apply primers, base and topcoats.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED. • Body Repair Certificate from accredited school/program with one (1) year directly related work experience; or three (3) years directly related work experience within the past ten (10) years; or previously qualified as a Port Authority Bodyperson Painter; or successful completion of appropriate practical test for internal maintenance employees. • Obtain and maintain appropriate Welding Certification within 90 working days. • Obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with air brake restriction removed and P endorsement within 90 working days. • Valid PA Driver’s License, Class C. • Successful completion of job specific training, as required. • Completion of the respirator Medical Evaluation questionnaire within 90 days of receipt of the evaluation package. • This is a Safety Sensitive position subject to all testing provisions under the Drug and Alcohol Policy, including random drug and alcohol testing. The person selected for this position may be required to be tested prior to being awarded the job.

Preferred Attributes

• ASE Certification. • Experience with Light Rail Vehicle structural repair and/or painting.
