Public Art Intern ($16 per hour)
Pittsburgh Regional Transit is seeking a Public Arts Intern to support PRT’s Public Arts Program by performing best practice research, assisting with Arts Committee administration, identifies and assists with relevant grant opportunities, and other types of projects to advance PRT’s Public Arts and Place-Based Planning Programs.
Essential Functions• Assists with the administration of PRT’s Arts Committee by producing relevant documents, communicating with committee members, taking meeting minutes, and other administrative functions. • Performs research on public art best practices, specifically related to transportation projects. • Assists with various public art-related activities, including project development, research, analysis, and implementation. • Assists with coordination with relevant internal departments and external partners to further progress of public art and place-based planning efforts.
Job Requirements
• A master’s degree or be enrolled in a master’s degree program in public arts management, planning, urban design, architecture, public policy, or a related field of study. Candidates with equivalent work experience will also be considered. • Ability to use InDesign and/or other Adobe software, Microsoft software, and the internet. • Ability to conduct thorough and organized research. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to take direction and also work independently.
Preferred Attributes
• Experience with managing and implementing a public arts project. • Work experience at an arts organization and with artist selection processes.
